Ireland's greatest storyteller and authority on the "other people"

Join us for a wonderful weekend of discovery in this beautiful and historic setting with a leading authority on the fairies and the stories that are told about them.

“ ‘Tis as simple as this: interfere with Them or Their places an’ you’re dead, or as good as it. I always heard that from the old people”. One of the statements collected by Eddie Lenihan about the fairies in Co. Clare, showing something of Their real nature, far from the popular perception of Them as harmless playful little creatures, somehow the companions of children.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Mysterious, frightening, occasionally helpful if treated with respect, but ideally left to Their own devices, what are we to make of these creatures who inhabit this same world as we do but can flit in and out of it at will? That is what this weekend will be trying to tease out. No doubt with hardly more success than those who have tried to understand Them before now. But we can genuinely try. And certainly will. And Eddie Lenihan, who has saved one of Their ‘sceachs’ (fairy bushes) from the road-builders, might, hereby, hopefully, have Their imprimatur for this weekend.
