The Trad Debate: 1

Announcement of the first Storytelling Café email conference

What is The Art of Traditional Storytelling
- a debate on traditional storytelling in the UK

20 July - 12 September

Following the raising of issues around "The Trad Debate" at the SfS gathering in Cardiff and the latest issue of Storylines you are invited to contribute to the above discussion topic by email. Now that the debate has started this is an attempt to keep it moving along faster than printed publications will allow. While it is accepted that only a minority of storytellers have their own email address, email is now available to many people through friends, colleges, workplaces, libraries, etc and we hope that many people will want to follow the debate even if they don't contribute.

The initial list of recipients will be those on the UK Directory of Storytellers on Email. All recipients will receive all postings to the conference.

Anyone else wishing to receive postings can add their email address to that list by contacting Graham Langley and will receive all postings from that date. If you are without your own email address you may contribute to the discussion through public access email or by sending a PC disc with your contribution by snail mail to Graham Langley, 12 Market Place, Cromford, Derbyshire, DE4 3QE.

The conference will be managed by Graham Langley so there may be occasional delays if he is away is away from home. The conference period has been chosen because this is a time when he expects to be near at hand. The purchasing of an automatic facility may be considered for future conferences.

To make contributions or to join the list send an email to Graham Langley
