Storytelling Workshops

GRAHAM leads a wide range of workshops for all ages and abilities as well as for specialised groups such as teachers, park rangers, librarians, etc. His vast experience in arts education enables him to enhance story work with a range of techniques. He also runs workshops in schools, most of which are adaptable to other age and ability groups.

Beginners' Workshops

Graham uses a group approach to story workshops allowing participants to develop their own language to tell the tale in a secure environment. He uses a range of drama and visual approaches that can be adapted to all ages.

Working towards a performance

Workshops may be built on the framework of an existing story. Onto this the participants weave their own rich fabric until the room is full of individualistic versions that have never before been heard.

Following on from beginner's workshops Graham leads sessions tailored to the needs of the group in storymaking, storytelling and performance skills.

Advanced Storytelling

GRAHAM'S experience as a drama teacher and performer over many years has given him a wide range of skills not only with oral literature but other art forms. He is a skilled and inventive teacher. While it may be said that everyone is a storyteller it is not the case that everyone is a performer.

Graham works on the performer and the story as a single entity. Using your own intuition as to the content and the emotional qualities of the story he will help you find ways to give these full expression for an audience.

Good Business Practice for Freelance Artists

Together with Roy Dyson, Graham runs practical workshops on a professional business approach for storytellers and other freelance artists. Areas of study include publicity, bookkeeping, networking etc.

These are invaluable for all aspiring freelance arts workers or those who want to improve their professional approach.
